One Shall Stand, One Shall Fall

Transformers was so goddamn awesome it hurts me to think I'm not watching it again at this very moment. Very few gripes and about a million things that made me happy. To describe my love of the movie accurately would probably result in an HR violation in most corporations.

For bad, I thought the Decepticons looked a little too spikey. Then again, they did look quite evil. Autobots looked perfect, so I guess it balances out. The classic Starscream and Megatron debate could have been extended and I wanted Bonecrusher and Prime to fight longer. Actually, all the fights between the robots could have been a bit longer and more focused on the robots. Then again, that CG (delicious, delicious CG) could not have been cheap to create.

What they got right? The kid was awesome, and he looked just like Spike from the cartoon (his name was Spike, right?) All of the robots sounded awesome, from voice to weapons to the classic transformation noise. The movie was full of tidbits from the 1986 movie, like the one used in this post's title and the CG was just incredible. This is probably the first movie since Jurassic Park where I saw the fake things on screen and honestly thought they looked real. Watching Star Wars Episodes 1-3 felt like I was watching a video game. The robots looked so real. All of the action was solid and the actors, while a bit corny (it is a summer blockbuster) did a great job.

I'm just rambling now.

Michael Bay nailed it -- I honestly couldn't ask for a better movie. There could have been so much wrong with this movie and frankly I'm just really satisfied. I love seeing a movie like this and the whole crowd just cheers from the awesomeness.
